The new version is technically superior and probably more accessible, but for me, it can't touch the raw passionn and beauty of the original. The version on TWS sounds like a professional singer going through the motions; the version on TKI sounds like Cathy begging Heathcliffe to let her in.

^ totally agree with this, and with gaffa's point - her unique vocal was what drew attention to the weird little song that became a huge hit. The "new vocal" version sounds like a Kate Bush tribute act cover version
