The first time I heard this album, knowing a bit of its history, I wondered why it was such a flop.

I recognize that it's nothing stellar, it's a standard pop rock glam 80's album. At that time there were tons of albums like this around and the fact that I knew of them means that they were successful enough to fly across the ocean and land in Europe.

YKTR had all that could be useful to the purpose. It was nothing better but also nothing worse.
I really can't understand why it sinked like that.

The only thing I can think of is the neverending lack of good promotion policies at Atlantic.
