Starting in Auschwitz? Yeah, that's darker.

Mixed positive here. Fassbender's gonna be a huge fucking star. His scenes with McAvoy were the best in the movie. Bacon was a first-rate villain. The film looked great and moved along very well. And silly as the climax was, I found it most entertaining.

It would have been nice to see Jennifer Lawrence get to do more actual acting, since she does that very well. But she does have nice chemistry with Hoult (on and off screen, from what I understand), and she looks great in 60s miniskirts. Other characters could have been better fleshed out. (Especially poor Zoe Kravitz. Why did her character make that choice?) And some of the dialogue was pretty clunky.

Overall, though, a B+ summer film, and I'd see the next in the series based on this.
