ONE TOURNAMENT PER WEEK RULE 2009 US OPEN WOMEN
For the 2009 US Open, the One Tournament Per Week Rule will be applied as follows for the Women’s Event:

Singles

Players who have competed and lost by 16.00 on Monday 24 August in any WTA Tour
event, ITF Women’s Circuit tournament or any other event occurring during the week of US
Open Qualifying* may compete, if otherwise eligible, in the US Open Qualifying. These players will not be permitted to participate in another tournament during the first week of US Open Main Draw**;

Players who withdraw after the appropriate Qualifying Sign-In Deadline, or are a No-Show, for any WTA Tour event, ITF Women’s Circuit tournament or any other event occurring during the week of the US Open Qualifying* will not be allowed to play in the US Open

Qualifying;
·
Players who have competed in the US Open Qualifying and lost before the Qualifying Sign-In Deadline for the following week’s tournaments will be allowed to compete in Qualifying or Main Draw of any WTA Tour event, ITF Women’s Circuit tournament or any other event occurring during the first week of US Open Main Draw**, provided they have not played in another tournament during the week of US Open Qualifying*. Players who are still competing in US Open Qualifying at this Deadline will be withdrawn from any tournaments they have entered during the first week of US Open Main Draw**.

Players who have competed in the first week of US Open Main Draw and lost before the appropriate Qualifying Sign-In Deadline for the following week’s tournaments will be allowed to compete in Qualifying or Main Draw of any ITF Women’s Circuit tournament orany other event occurring during the second week of the US Open Main Draw***. Players
who are still competing in the US Open Main Draw at this Deadline will be withdrawn from any tournaments they have entered during the second week of US Open Main Draw***.

Doubles
·
Players who are accepted into the US Open Main Draw but who are also direct acceptances into the Singles Main Draw of an ITF Women’s Circuit tournament during the first week of the US Open** will be automatically withdrawn from the ITF Women’s Circuit tournament.
Players who are Alternates for the US Open Doubles event but who are also direct acceptances for Singles Main Draw at any ITF Women’s Circuit tournament during the first week of the US Open** may withdraw from the ITF Women’s Circuit tournament without penalty but only if the ITF receives the withdrawal before the appropriate tournament’s
Freeze Deadline. After the Freeze Deadline, such players will be removed from the US Open Doubles Alternate List.

Players who are Alternates for the US Open Doubles event but who are direct acceptances for the Doubles event at a ITF Women’s Circuit tournament in the first week of the US Open** will be removed from the US Open Doubles Alternate List.

Players who are Alternates for the US Open Doubles event but who play Singles Qualifying at an ITF Women’s Circuit tournament during the first week of the US Open** and qualify for Main Draw will be removed from the US Open Doubles Alternate List. Such players who do not qualify for Main Draw at the ITF Women’s Circuit tournament will be eligible to sign in as Doubles Alternates at the US Open.

New Haven WTA Tour event; $100,000 Women’s Circuit tournament in Bronx-USA; $10,000 Women’s Circuit tournaments in Arezzo-ITA, Barueri-BRA, Braunschweig-GER, Enschede-NED, Nonthaburi-THA, Portschach-AUT, Prague-Neride-CZE, Qianshan-CHN, Saitama-JPN and Velenje-SLO.
** Tournament during the first week of US Open Main Draw (w/c 31 August):
$25,000 Women’s Circuit tournaments in Katowice-POL, Maribor-SLO and Tsukuba-JPN; $10,000 Women’s Circuit tournaments in Almere-NED, Bassano del Grappa-ITA, Brcko-BIH, Celeya-MEX, London-Cumberland-GBR, Mollerusa-ESP and Nonthaburi-THA.
*** Tournaments during the second week of US Open Main Draw (w/c 7 September):
$100,000 Women’s Circuit tournament in Biella-ITA; $50,000 Women’s Circuit tournament in Denain-FRA; $25,000
Women’s Circuit tournament in Alphen a/d Rijn-NED, Noto-JPN; $10,000 Women’s Circuit tournament in Bangalore-IND, Budapest-HUN, Casale-ITA, Mazatlan-MEX, Rousse-BUL, Sarajevo-BIH and St. Petersburg-RUS.
