I was supposed to be going to the GP but had to pull out last minute
Congratulations to Jenson for a brilliant pole lap. He can bask in his glory for the short term until the next time the balance of the car isn't exactly to his liking. Fantastic lap. I was watching it from onboard and you won't see better lap around Spa. It was clear the car was set up perfectly. It goes to show that Jenson can do it when he is given a perfectly set up car but when he isn't given that, he is not top of the field. That's his Achilles heel unfortunately.
Shame that McLaren chose the wrong wing on Lewis car. He is very unlikely to win now and this would have been a GP where he most definitely could have won with the car he has. It's typical of the mistakes that McLaren have been making over the past couple of years though and one of the reasons I think Hamilton should move on. They get some races right, some wrong. They are never consistent enough to win a championship. If it isn't strategy, it's set up.
It's going to be an interesting race tomorrow.
Finally, a disgraceful performance from the Mercedes team. They can't hide behind the "we've made a big step this year" nonsense. Ferrari were behind them at the start of the year and are leading the championship with Alonso. It's simply not good enough from the Mercedes team.
