I adopted my first pitbull who was 12 years old and my parents were fine with her because she was old and slow (but my aunt woudn`t let me bring her when I was visiting and staying at her house because she didn`t want her puppy to get harrassed by a pitbull). 2 years later she passed away and I got a new one who was 2 years old. My mom said that I was going to get myself killed if i kept playing with pitbulls. Now when my parents come to visit they let the pitbulls sleep in the bed, and my mom refers to one of them as her dog. I also get a phone call from my mom a few times a week and she always tells asks me if Kali misses her and asks me to tell Kali that she loves her.
