I get to fly home on Sunday and resume my standard routine again. I am anticipating with great pleasure a long, brisk walk on Monday. However, since I've been away, I've experienced an interesting effect.

I have not been able to walk every day, as I am wont; and even when I have, I've not been able to devote the time that I normally do. I have been quite active throughout the day though; more than I usually am at home. I've moved around a great deal, and gotten up and down frequently. The walking I've done has been associated with errands and general activity; but a lot of it. I thought I might gain water weight or get into a stall but I've lost at least another inch off my waist in these two weeks. The trousers I brought up here so proudly, slightly tight, but fitting reasonably well, are now quite loose at the waist.

I believe this is an indication that even if one cannot do vigorous exercise, at least at first on Atkins, even simple, increased activity can be significantly beneficial to our weight loss. If you cannot yet endure an exercise program, or if reading Evrrdy's posts just makes you tired all over, try adding speed and vigor to your everyday activities, and walk as much as possible in doing them. I believe, from my present experience, that it will really help. There is always that hope that you might be young and strong enough to go for a run with Evrrdy some day and see what pain is really like.

Good Luck!
