I think you're doing a good job. Have you thought about riding a recumbent stationary bike (the kinds where you are in a seated position) to mix it up and to keep your skin from drying out too much.

A row machine is also a few good full body workout. You gym may also have the thing that looks like an upside down bike where you pedal with your arms. I'm not sure what that thing is called.

Just remember to keep it slow so you don't get too sore and are less likely to keep it up.
