Barbara,
This is the type of problem that has always been in the back of my mind and why I have been shying away from having direct implantation of stem cells either derived from umbilical cord blood or autologous stem cells directly implanted into my son's brain or even spinal cord. To me injecting stem cells derived from blood, back into the blood, either venous or arterial and letting them get where they are going on their own per se is somewhat more natural. This is experimental therapy after all.
