Hey dirty hippy I just noticed something on your opening post. When you are in between a SW and a PW instead of choking down have you tried not bringing the club all the way back? One of the best tips I learned I actually discovered myself, then read where it's a Dave Peltz staple.
Take out a SW, go out to 80 yards on a deserted course (not the range) and learn how far you hit it by bring it back only until your arms are at 9:00. Then hit that same club only bring it back to 10:00, then 11:00, then full. Now back up to 100 yards and do the same thing with, say a gap wedge. At first you may need to write them all down but soon you will know what club to hit and how far to bring it back. Then when you get around 100 yards simply dial up the correct club and backswing.
For example I know for me that if I bring a SW back to 10:00 it goes 80 yards almost every time. IF I bring it to 11:00 it goes 90. If I'm at 100 yards I bring a gap wedge to 10:00. IMO it is way easier to do this than to choke down and run the risk of a fat/thin shot.
