I've got the Bushnell that's USGA legal (no slope calculations), it's a $400 unit. You do need to be able to see what you're shooting, clear line of sight. I haven't had any problem with that because if I can get there I need to go up and see if the green is clear anyway.
Comes in handy for my rifles also.
I like the rangefinder better, exact yardage to the pin, no subscription, can take it anywhere without having to hook it up to my computer.
I see where the newer skycaddies allow you to keep your score and stats on the unit and that is a neat deal. Another thing I didn't like about the skycaddie is that in real cloudy or rainy weather they didn't get a good signal.
