I gain distance with a short swing. What feels short to me probably looks close to parallel. I try to stop the woods short of parallel and the irons at a little more than 45 degrees from parallel but I don't get it done according to the camera.
I don't think I'm close to parallel anymore. Part of that is age, sure.

I used to have a lot of "wrap" as a good golfer once described it, but what made it a long swing was broken down wrists and elbows. Rarely could make everything sychronize properly. A look at video of my swing was alarming and educational.

Now, after a lesson about 8 years ago, I take it back a fraction of that amount, but under control, usually.

I'm not in love with the long ball like many. Hell, I finally bought my first big headed driver last year at the pawn shop for $20.

Keep the drive in play, make a decent approach...chip and putt.
