ummmm, yeah. they have only held us opens there.

and umm this one thing about 2 years back. what's it called. oh yeah, the Ryder Cup. yeah, that's pretty big i hear.

I do believe you have to pay extra to play the good course seeing as how there are 2 of them out there.

I actually played it before the Ryder Cup (my girl's dad is a member) and Christ was I humbled. The one thing we all take for granted playing on non-tourney level tracks is the rough. The F'ing rough was beyond my ankles, it was the most brutal round of golf I have ever played. Where I normally play (muni's, country clubs on less of a stature) the rough MAY cause a half to a one club differential...oh no, it was a solid 3 clubs - unreal.

To this day, the rough is still quite thick, I played about three ago and it still sucks when you hit a ball in the rough because a) its hard as fuck to find (it sits down pretty good) and b) its pretty thick.

You mentioned the two courses...for what its the worth the North course is really an amazing golf course in its own right but is tremendously overshadowed by the South.

I've played there many times and the most amazing thing still is to stand one number one where they have the plaques of the winners of all the tourneys and the big green standing clock - you know your playing and standing in the same area as some of the greats.
