I ran my first (and last) half marathon a couple of years back in the Great North Run.
Unfortunately I had "achilles" issues in the build up and really damaged them on the day. I did it in 1 hour 51 minutes and (I think) 23 seconds! But I had been hoping for something about 15 minutes quicker!
If I ran it now it would be more like 3 hours 51 minutes!!
If you do the training, you'll really enjoy it. One thing I never appreciated was how good a good crowd can be. The crowd really played a part.
