If you have someone you are really close to, you can ask them to look at your scalp, and the actual strands of hair. If they pull a white thing out, put it on your fingernail. If it stays still, it's a dandruff. If it starts running around on your nail, it's a louse.

Also, if they see what they think is dandruff and it won't come off the hair, then it's a egg casing. Tea tree oil is supposed to work wonders.
