It's very complicated.....there is a list...called a formulary of drugs approved by the FDA to be marketed as homeopathic remedies. Hcg is not on that formulary, so the FDA cracked down on hhcg at the beginning of 2012. There are still places selling it, but many of the formulas no longer have hcg in them, they contain instead amino acids, vitamins, etc. there are still some hhcg formulas out there flying under the radar.

Prescription hcg is not approved by the FDA for weight loss. The use of it for that purpose is not illegal, it's just an off label use. There are many drugs out there used for off label uses....this is very common. It's not illegal for a doctor or clinic to prescribe it to you for weight loss, but for an individual non doctor to sell it to you is technically fraud, and dispensing a prescription med without a license. An individual is not allowed to dispense it for an off label use as a doctor is. Recognize this is all US law....other countries will vary. Hope this helps some....
