hi kimg
I am going to respond to this since I had this issue and I had so much BAD info given to me when it happened. I thought I was going nuts. My hair was fine, then as soon as I stop the HCG, bam! Hair loss, and I got all kinds of well wishers telling me I was not taking good vitamins, or increase b12 or I had stress... blah,...spoke to a doc and this is what he told me...
When you take HCG your body floods with estrogen, thinking it is pregnant. When you stop it now thinks its done being pregnant, so you begin to have all those excessive hormones pulled from your body, and you go through the same thing you do after you have a baby, and for a lot of us that means hair loss.
It is fine when you have a mob of hair as I did when I was 27, not so fine now that I am in my 40's and I have thyroid issues and thinner hair. It did not last long for me, and now that I started R2 my hair started to really kick in again so I know this to be true, because my hair and nails look great and I am back on a VLCD, but I know a lady who lost almost 50 percent of her hair after HCG so it is good knowing this can happen and being PREPARED for it.
I take a huge regiment of vitamins (Pro-femma, sub lingual b12, trace minerals like potassium and magnesium and calcium, fish oil (yes even on p2), d3, coq10, l-carnitine, and a specific one for my hair and nails that has biotin.) But NOTHING worked until I went and bought extra strength rogaine, mixed with a little low percent reten A (very little). My hair began to get thicker again, thank goodness...but until I started r2 I worried about it and almost DID not start r2 because I did not know if I wanted to lose my hair again now that it was starting to re-grow...
However as soon as I started r2 my hair now looks awesome...long story short, Doc say I need more estrogen/progestrone when I am done with HCG and I will start the rogain again probably the last week I am on this round and will keep it up until I do r3.
There are a few benefits to having a doc to talk to when doing this diet, this was one of them. I almost quit because of this issue.
