btw- in terms of P3, i have long suspected that you could eat healthy sugars and starches as long as you kept your fat and overall calories low. i think the most important thing during P3 is to keep your weight roughly the same, no matter how you accomplish that. i do think it's easier to eat a healthy number of calories when you avoid sugar and starch- but i no longer believe that every little 1/2 gram of sugar added to some product makes any difference.
I totally agree, the important thing with maintenance is simply vigilance. With cycling during maintenance, you can have a few down days after a little splurge. So I don't think it's about macronutrients, just being very careful to stay the same weight. I think it takes 3-6 months to truly establish a strong set point... so really watching your weight and doing whatever your style of corrections is to keep it at the same place for that period of time is what's most important to keep from rebounding, not cutting out sugars or starches.
