I suffer from insomnia too. You could try taking a hot bath at night. Also, I've heard the best time to exercise is between 4 - 6pm, any later and it can affect your sleep - not good for working people I know! I've started taking semi-skimmed milk at night, that helps a little too.

When I get really desperate, I take kalms (night), which is a valerian based herbal sleeping tablet and it doesn't make you feel drowsy the next morning. I now take it when I travel because I have terrible jet-lag.

Other things are great for relaxation is lavender, I buy the oil and sprinkle it on my pillow. Also, whenever I change my pillow sheets and pjs, I sleep better, I have no idea why. As you can tell, I've looked into this alot because it's such a problem for me.

Also, it's probably best if you write down what is bothering you in a diary and ways to deal with it. That might help ease the worry.
