see, it entirely depends on your body, there is limit to protein absorption also. if your body is used to absorb 150gm of proteins and suddenly you increase it to 500...that means that you are over consuming. and with excess protein, your body becomes less efficient at processing it and uses much of it for energy, If you consume small amounts of protein, your body becomes extremely efficient at using that protein and burns less for energy.
