Where do you get your numbers from? My research says that Vancouver had 55 murders in 2008 and there were 88 murders in BC. Those number are from CBC. Did you not notice all the homeless and junkies when you were at Hastings and Main? The population of Vancouver in 2006 was about 600,000. It is 2.2 million if you include Burnaby, New West, Coquitlam, Surrey and Langley. But honestly, does anyone think of Langley as part of Vancouver?
