Exactly what I was thinking, Blue... if you have ketone breath you need to drink more water. We excrete excess ketones two ways... through exhalation and urination. If you're not drinking enough water to be urinating frequently all day, then your body HAS to excrete them by exhalation. Another way to reduce te excess ketones is to use them. That means exercise. If you're eating a very high fat diet, you will be producing more ketones, too, since they are a by-product of fat metabolism (fat you eat shows up as ketones when you're in ketosis).
So... more water, more veggies and double check your fat intake. Although I doubt it's too high since your calories are too low on some days.
