Ah yes... the HOLIDAYS. I have survived them... and I have had those that got me.

I have found, for me, that there is no "just a little"... no "just one"... no "eat this meal and get back on". My only choice is to just say no to everything. There's nothing I'm missing that I can't have another time. Yes, even the holiday foods I can have in June if I want them... because I can make it myself. Knowing this about me gives me the strength to not indulge. I also ENJOY the first week of January when my jeans still fit me, when I don't feel like gagging at the thought of sugar, when I have energy and feel POSITIVE about the new year because it doesn't involve a resolution to get back on a diet and lose weight.

My resolution begins on October 31st...when I resolve to stay on my plan without fail until January 1st. Once you make the decision, the rest is easier. There's a quote I used to have... it went something like, "Make difficult choices once and stick to them. You don't have to make the same choice over and over." That's how I get through the holiday temptations... I make the choice to not eat the junk once. That choice extends to all temptations. Decision made.

You'll have to find what works for YOU. Listen to what other people do and then, knowing yourself, make your own decision. It's smart to ask now... to start planning. Because we all know that "when you fail to plan, you plan to fail".
