I've tried to explain it to others this way in the past:

Weigh yourself
Eat or drink something
Weigh yourself

Oh no, just like that you've gained a pound! All that work amounted to nothing... or not.

What you eat and drink doesn't just go away in between weigh-ins (even ones a day or more apart).

From my personal experience it can take upwards of 72 hours to get rid of food, and depending on salt intake. Liquids are usually much, much faster, but depending on salt intake you could have "water weight" for days or even weeks.

The scale isn't a very reliable tool, and realistically unless you want to be a jockey or a wrestler, I don't think *anyone* cares what you weigh.

How do you look? How do you feel? How are your clothes fitting? These are the things that matter.
