In his chapter on metabolic resistance, Atkins wrote about anti-depressants. In his book it starts on the bottom of page 263.
Here's the beginning...
"ANTI-DEPRESSANT DRUGS
Another drug category that matches HRT in providing obstacles to weight loss is the anti-depressants, particularly those which are in the SSRI (selctive serotonin reuptake inhibitors) category. Strangely enough, these drugs -- such as Zoloft, Proza, Paxil and Celexa -- were originally touted as drugs that would accelerate weight loss, but a reality check soon put an end to those misleading statements. In general, these drugs have certanily been overprescirbed, and many people who suffer from depression would get great benefits from metabolically innocuous, natural nti-depressants. Many of the older psychotrophic drugs (tricyclic anti-depressants) are also known to cause weight gain."
The next short section is called "The Atkins Approach to Depression".
I don't have any personal experience so I can't offer any advice... except to do the best you can under your circumstances. So, maybe the drugs will make it harder. But not impossible. Some people can't exercise... but that doesn't stop them from losing. I guess what I'm saying is don't let this discourage you. Use the knowledge to your advantage and be determined.
HTH,
Tril
