Trill's 100% right about that tarp. Want to protect your backside outside of the tent? Go back to Girl Scout days and make a sit-upon! (That's just whatever padding you need - newspapers, cushion, whatever inside a waterproof wrapping, usually a plastic bag) It protects your bum outside like the tarp does inside.

Deep Woods Off is usually good for buggies. DON'T spray it on the tent, it will make the tent leak, but do spray it on the lit part of the flashlights. Unless you have an advanced degree in arson or your deep-woods skills are still brand-new take a Coleman Stove and some infallible way of making fire if you are cooking out. 5:30 a.m. is no time to be standing over smoldering leaves singing, "Rise Up O Flame"

Have a great time and I wish I was going with you! I dearly loved camping when I was single (as if you couldn't tell) but I married someone who thinks "roughing it" is when the hotel room doesn't have cable!
