I tell people when a food situation arises because if you don't, you can get into problems later on in the day.

It's better to let people know before you get served something that you're absolutely not going to eat.

In my family they have seen me on it for years and still try to stuff things in front of me that they know I'm not going to eat. It's almost a running joke now.

If people give you guff about it, just wait for them to sit down and kick their chair out from under them, then dump their plate on them.

They will eventually shut up.
