Suggestions for strugglers
The Atkins diet has improved my life so much that I wanted to put in a few suggestions to anyone who is struggling. These might not be for the purists but I can only say that it works for me and I have come down from 192lbs to 170lbs. Not a massive loss but it was all I needed. First of all I would say do not try and get your target weight in one go. I did the induction then went on to OWL for a couple of weeks, then back to induction. Like, do it in stages. There was no way that I could drink all the water that is stated. So, I didn't. I did get some bottles of no carb flavoured water to sip at times. I had plenty of veg's. I tried vitamin pills but they did not help and with some of the latest research I have seen were not likely to do so. I did not completely stop alcohol. I would try to stick to whiskey or wine. And, when on OWL would have a beer. I am a big snacker so the following is what really saved me. I always had a supply of Flaxseed Muffins, Walnut Crackers, Crustless Quiche (individual size) and Cheddar Cheese Biscuits. That is, I did not pig out on these things but they were very useful. Main ingredient for a lot of this stuff is Protein Powder. I just used the cheap Soya one from Holland and Barratt. All these recipes are on this site. I also used Belberry Jam on the muffins. Not one problem with constipation and no tiredness after day 3. Hope this helps someone and does not upset the purists.
