The man who financed the construction of the tower shut it down when he learned that there would be no way to regulate the energy and therefore it wouldn't make money. I call BS on this. Of course there would be ways to regulate the energy. Of course there would be ways to make money with this technology. Just off the top of my head, meters on the receiving end could be built to track energy use, and a bill would be sent by the owner of the tower each month. Competition between tower owners would certainly reduce energy cost, but energy is also a very high-demand commodity, and people are certainly willing to pay for it.
