[QUOTE=woodman;562992]Yes, I remember that quite well. Book had a deep statist streak in him that went to the bone. He loves cops and authority as if government authority was a righteous thing. Some people have a need and desire to be ruled over and feel relieved to see others take their whippings from the government. A sickness of sorts. A perverse mindset that must have it's roots in infancy and a failure to grow a decent umbrella of self or ego.

Some spend years on their knees trying to burn off their ego, but in the end we need it if we are going to fight to make our own elbow room for survival in this dog-eat-dog world.

That said, I think it a shame that he is gone because he was an acute character, quite willing and able to take us to task in our own failings. He was able to point out some truth and it usually hurt.[/

Woodman: I believe Book was a person who would be very loyal to family and friends. He's the kind of guy I'd want watching my back if I were in a fight. I believe he had a family member who was a cop. That would explain his defense of them.

I agree with the part of your post I bolded.
