I'm feeling helpless against the fluoride menace - I've got a family of 5 and we're on city water. I've got a whole-house carbon filter but I'd need a whole house r/o system to get the fluoride out and I don't have the money to throw at one of those.

AOW you can do what I did. Get a R/O drinking water system. It does help and I've been doing that for about 2 years now. You can definitely tell a difference with the taste of the water. Drinking water systems are substantially less expensive. The only thing I would recommend is a larger storage tank. Most only come with 3-5 gallon storage tanks. I've got a 10 gallon storage tank for just me and the wife. My daughter ONLY gets her water for her bottle from the R/O faucet.
