I think our present society is turned toward and focused on instant gratification without concern for producing value for others. We buy junk to make us feel good and quickly throw it away when it breaks or fades. We are sloppy in serving others and neglect the attention to quality. I asked Gerald how we change that. He said that people need to be exposed to the finer things so that once they get a taste of goodness, they won't want to go back to junk. This generation of buying on debt, getting by, entitlement mentality- seems to have missed out on that taste. At this point, I really wonder if it is possible to innoculate them with quality to overcome their idiocracy condition. Those who are intelligent will come around, but you can't fix stupid. I often wonder what percentage of the people are stupid and usually hold that it is larger than 50%.

So, I think his idea is good- expose people to good things (and I would add- truth), and those who have that capacity to see the difference will not want to go back.
