No collars on unless we're going somewhere. Had a scare years ago with my parents dogs that made me decide this. They were wrestling and one got his canine tooth stuck in the others collar, they were twisting around all over the place but couldn't get loose. Both were basically being strangled to death and my dad had to cut the collars off (thank god we were there!). Bad bad bad. None of our dogs have ever worn collars since! Mine are all microchipped, FWIW.
this is why i never have collars on at home. i am paranoid of getting caught on something and having a strangled dog. Peanut only wears his when he is going someplace then like if we are in a hotel collars off.

long ago my parents dog Jade used to be an outside dog and her collar kept getting "rainbowed" that made me nervous i had no idea what she was getting caught on. then we met the people from Paco collars and told us about how they lost the company namesake Paco and THAT scared me but we already had collars off at hom. then i was just reading a VPI Hambone award that a dog was in the backyard and the owner came home and seen the dog's collar and the dog stuck on the barbeque the dog could have lost its life had the owner not come home.

Peanut and Jade are also microchipped and they have 3 doors to get out if they were to "escape" but honestly neither of them will leave the front door.
