It's all about management, knowing your dogs, and being prepared should a fight break out.
Management mean crate and rotate in some cases, and even if they do get along, never have them unsupervised. Don't keep "triggers" for possible fights around like food items, treats, chews, or toys. High value items should be put away when multiple dogs are present, and dogs separated when they are offered.
Know your dogs. Recognize when play is getting over the top and intervene accordingly, as it can escalate into something ugly. Understand their body language when they are not comfortable in each others presence....when tension exists, separate. Be aware that any excitement can transfer to aggression pretty quickly.
Be prepared. Always have breaksticks handy in case you should need them, and know how to use them properly.
I have five dogs in my home, my APBT, a Bullmastiff, and three Miniature Pinschers.
