True story.

When we found Trudi at a shelter in Upstate New York the tag on her crate that read BLACK LAB. I knew she was a pit, just not sure what type. When I pointed this out to the shelter worker she looked at the tag, looked at the pup and said, "Nope, that's a black Lab.

At the front desk I brought the issue up to the shelter manager. He looked Trudi over and said, "I'm sorry sir, this is a Black Lab. Do you still want her?"

Of course we did, and brought her straight away to our vet (great guy, now deceased).

I told him what the shelter staff said and putting her up on the examining table he held her face in hands, then turned to us with a smile and said, "Your Black lab has mumps."
At the time was the shelter allowed to adopt out Pits or Pit mixes? A couple municiple shelters around here can't, so they lie through their teeth. Many a Pit Bull or mix has been labled a Lab mix.
