It also depends on the dog. Some dogs are sensitive to verbal discipline (Like Raj in my case) and others are not as sensitive (Like Willow) will sometimes need a slap on the butt to get her attention and make her realize that I mean business. Are my dogs hand shy? Nope.

Yes it really depends on the dog.. I've seen a dog that don't want to be commanded when she is already agitated and would bite you if you did. But if she is on a controlled environment.. she is tamed like a lapdog.
