I don't beat my dog, I have had to make him lay down or sit a few times, like the other day (he was jumping and would not listen to a word I was saying and ended up landing his nails on my leg, that made me grab his collar and take him to the ground but that is about it) normally a "Off" or a "sit" or "down" will stop him from doing whatever he is that I don't want him to do but now that I am pregnant he seems to try to get away with more than he knows he should...but that is really my fault cause I have not been able to walk him like I need to right now, either way, no I do not hit my dog, I use collars, body language, words and body blocking
That is the toughest I've been with my dog, each occasion she caught me with her teeth. Has never happened again. I never hit the dog & I never raise my voice. Training is always reward based & discipline is specific to the problem, like digging holes in the garden, bury the dog in it. Works a treat & no violence. Watching owners being "rough" with their dogs I often get the impression from the dogs that they are going WTF? Like any other behaviour, the dog will get used to it & learn to avoid you if it feels your going to hit it.
