Oh good I am really, really thankful I raised my dog in the house. Because of my choice to leave him unaltered, I had to consider the chance of him learning to mark where ever he pleased. I definitely stayed on top of him about it, and made it VERY clear the only place he dare lift his leg is outside, especially when he learned 'how' to do it. He has only twice decided to try his luck and lift in the house...the polite way of saying happened, is I made sure he regretted it because I caught him in the act both times.

I've found stray dogs, typically unaltered males, and they were constantly pissing in my house. I don't have time for that bullshit, and I didn't want to deal with it with my own dog. When Bear starts lifting his leg, make sure you have his potty training down pat, and nip that habit in the bud before it starts. Once they get started lifting their leg in the house, it's practically impossible to stop. I think it's definitely harder with dogs who are raised primarily outdoors, which is why I asked.

Best of luck! I am so pleased I was able to keep my dog unaltered and not have to deal with disgusting habits like marking in the house, or humping.
