I know in Ontario, any pit bull type dog (or any dog that looks 'substantially similar') that bites a person or another animal, whether provoked or not, automatically gets a date with the needle.

So if a loose dog attacked me, or my house was broken into, or I was assaulted by a rapist... and my dog tried to protect me... he'd be put down.

And yet you can legally own a tiger in this province.
