I wonder what type of scraps are being included into his diet. I personally would look into feeding raw thoroughly. It's not an expensive diet if you take the time to do some research and look around for the lowest prices. It's even a little less as opposed to the large bag of kibble I use to purchase while I fed kibble.
I will definitely look into the fully raw dies, I imagine it would be a lot healthier for the little chubber The kibble is quite expensive and he eats all the scraps at dinner time so it could be anything from steak to salad..
