I had to board MJ earlier this year when I was in the hospital. There was nobody that I knew capable of handling her correctly that could, as the only person I'd trust with her had a litter of pups on the ground with a 1st time momma (Murphy's litter). I looked and looked for a boarding kennel that fit my specific wishes, and found it with one thats maybe a 10 minute drive from my house. The owners of the kennel are owners of APBTs, and understand that these dogs, while extremely loving towards people, are often DA, especially when flung into a boarding kennel. They didn't question her weight (most people would call her "skinny" and a few have dared say "emaciated" when she is in condition), and actually complimented the shape she was in. MJ evidently had a great time there, and everyone loved her. I still called almost every day to make sure everything was going ok, but I'm pretty sure they are used to that. She did come back a little fatter than she arrived, and everyone admitted to slipping her pieces of their lunch and extra jerkey treats.
Hope my story sets you a little more at ease!
