Honestly, a female protecting her pups is commonly aggressive. Liberty's dam was such a case. Until the pups were weaned, any time we went in there, her dam had to be put outside. Once the pups were weaned, she was as sweet as ever.
I wouldn't call the dog in this case HA unless she has a history of it.
