I still can't quite look at a family picture including my toy poodle mix (RIP Patches) that sits on my dresser. It took me til spring to throw away his bed and he passed in December. I have a hard time mowing and weedwhacking the area behind the garage where I buried him and get all sad whenever I have to go back there to bring my dogs into the house.

Considering my issues, you are perfectly normal.

By all means, if you think this emotional stuff is a reminder to be a better owner then be a better owner. You and your dog will feel happier for it.
