This is so sad
Several years ago I worked for the humane society here and I stopped by there to pick up something and had my dog with me Storm. I was just going to run in and back out so didn't see it as a problem. It was a warm day but not HOT, the windows where down and she had ice in a bowl.
I went inside and got kind of preoccupied helping with some paperwork. I didn't FORGET her but I
knew
she was okay.
I'd say I was inside for about 10 minutes.
When I go back out to my car the head investigator (and my then boyfriend's dad) was standing at the car and called me over. He had his digital thermometer and showed me its reading. It was reading 108 degrees!! I felt like crying!
I got Storm OUT of the car and took her inside to the air condition adoption center and got her some fresh water.
The head investigator wasn't MAD at me but told me he has seen dogs died in less heat then that and I needed to be more careful. I could of just died right there, I was so embarrassed! I worked for the humane society and put my dog in danger doing something that stupid!
So now I don't take the dogs unless they can go inside wherever I am going.
Samson's last car ride for the season was a week or so ago...it's just TOO hot now especially since I have no AC in my car.
People just don't get it....it's like the morons that leave CHILDREN and BABIES in hot cars! That is TOTALLY insane!
