SBT, I feel you on the too quiet thing. I lost my Old Man (Patches by name) last December after 16 years. He wasn't a loud guy, but he had a presence about him that is very missed.It was emotionally quiet, if that makes sense.


I also had to retrain myself to walk down the hall in the dark and not be afraid of stepplng in something nasty or on the perpetrator of something nasty (he was blind, deaf and incontinent toward the end). It sucked going to my room and seeing his bed, took months for me to throw it away.

I also still mourn a dog that passed in 1996.

Its almost like losing a relative. It hurts, it sucks and it never goes away. It just becomes easier in time.
