The whole ribs thing is just a sign of how prone to obesity Americans are.
A well-muscled dog scares most people. They think chunky for all species is safe and comforting. .

When I see "chunky" (HUGE) Americans, I'm not comforted, I'm sickened and remind myself to leave the house less. Especially when said people have their arms filled with Doritos, and are buying their poor fat child a crap load of candy. I shudder to think of what their poor dogs look like.

Sorry, I needed to have a fat rant.
