Anti-tethering people seem to live in this fantasy world were if only chains were made illegal, then no dog would ever be abused or neglected again.

SO2010, that isn't the chain's fault. It is the owner's fault. Owners like that will neglect/abuse a dog no matter what form of containment or lack of containment they have.

Some of my dogs are full time outside dogs (from time to time, I might let them in the house for a tiny bit), but they are all well cared for, walked, and loved.
I know, I'm with you a 100% on this. The people who do this to their dogs, will obviously find other means to abuse their pet. I leave my dog outside for a few a while too sometimes, but the people I'm talking about, never let their dog off the chain. Once in a while, they'll go and feed it but that's it. Do I think chaining should be outlawed? Of course not, it would break my boy's heart
