My friends recently rescued 3 pit bull puppies from some "friends" of theirs.

These people had an unaltered male and female that they left alone and let out together, even while the female was in heat.

They didn't notice that the female was noticeably pregnant (I noticed it, and I know nothing about pregnant dogs/breeding). She was so far along that she sat on the male's foot and he screamed and couldn't pull his foot out from under her.

So she had the litter.

These people took horrible care of the mother and pups. Didn't feed the mother enough, and were incapable of cleaning up after the pups (even though they are home 24 hours a day).

My friends went to visit them when the puppies were about 5 weeks old. The puppies were living in a crate, that had about 2 inches of waste on the floor of the crate. Someone had already taken 2 of the puppies due to these conditions. The people rarely let the mother in with the pups, but were always complaining about "what a bad mother she is" and how she didn't feed them enough (even though they had teeth, could start puppy food now).

My friends took the last puppies (3) after they found out one had died the night before from dehydration.

The puppies are now being fostered by my friends, who are keeping the male.

The kicker? Shortly after the pups were rescued, the female ran away (these people just let the dogs run loose outside). The people called my friends asking to have one of the pups to replace the female. They told them no effing way.
