I am in the same boat with a long time friend who is old enough to be my dad and has been kind of a surrogate dad for years. He took in a Pit that is male and over a year old named Buddy. He also took in a Pit pup thats just hitting 7 months old named Petey. Buddy is an angel but Petey needs a firmer hand as he has instigated fights and tried to bite people, succeeding in leaving scratches but no broken skin. I keep telling my friend not to leave the boys unattended and to neuter them both plus work on training Petey so he will know who is boss and to keep the average asshat that comes over from petting him until his issues are under control. Does he do any of it? Nooooo. So, I am waiting to hear AC got called and the dogs are taken.

Earlier this year my sisters Pit and my brothers Pit got into a fight. My sister, her husband, my brother, his fiancee and a friend all live in the same house with their dogs and kids. My sister has 4 kids, my brother 2 kids and they are all under 8 years old. They also have a total of 5 Pits at the house. The dogs my sister and her husband own are out of control and badly in need of training. They also could use a neuter. Two of the males fight and my sister got bitten trying to break it up. I have talked to them til I am blue in the face about training, spay/neuter and keeping the dog seperated. Pretty easy since they live out in the country and have an old stable they converted into an indoor kennel with a fenced outdoor dog run plus the dogs come in the house throughout the day and at night. Wouldn't be hard to keep the boys seperate and in the house on a rotational basis until my broher moves out. Do they listen? Noooo, they think they have it all under control even though a week doesn't go by without me getting a call about another fight. In addition, one of the kids visiting with her mother let the dogs out and they had a visit from AC while they were trying to find my sisters male. Just waiting for the call to come that one or all dogs was taken.

I feel ya, Imwst18, I really do. Wishing people had to take an IQ or some type of common sense test before getting a Pit.
