I'm with Zoe here. Use what ever means necessary to keep the dogs on their property. Country raised does not have to equal free roaming and usually stay on the property.

I did have a neighbor who reacted at least somewhat like the person you describe, when we first moved where I am now. Sure, he hated pit bulls and pretty much any other dogs for that matter. Sure, he shot his mouth off to the wrong person right off the bat - saying he would shoot our dog if he ever got in his yard, etc. He came about things the wrong way, but in the end, he was just being protective of what was his. He turned out to be one heck of a great person and one of our best neighbors. Never did really care for our dogs, but frankly, I really don't care if people want to be friends with my dogs or not.
